Vishranti - A Resort in the Woods
:

There are times when you want to take a break from your daily monotonous life, destress yourself  and get rid of the clutter that has been accumulated in your mind over a period of time. This is the time when you wish to live in solitude, just be with yourself and relax.

If you wish to do a bit of soul searching and surround yourself with lush green forests OR if you wish to take a day out and spend the day with your family & kids OR if you wish to have some fun with friends, "Vishranti" is the place to go.

The clock moves slowly here. The sense of peace and calmness prolongs your stay at "Vishranti".

Spread over several acres of land, surrounded by Sal forest, Vishranti Spa and Resort is laden with all the modern amenities which urbanites crave for.
Vishranti is also known as the place where M.S Dhoni's wedding was organized.

One can either stay in the colonial styled cottages & suits or come over for a day trip to enjoy the serenity and tranquility.

The cottages and suits have slanting roofs  and wide wrap around verandahs. From these verandahs one can view and enjoy the serene Sal forests, surrounding foothills and the organic farms.
Each of the rooms are air conditioned, elegantly restored with furniture, paintings and antiques of the by gone era.

If you are just visiting for a day, a token amount (per vehicle) would be charged as you enter the premises. This money can be redeemed against your food and beverage expenses.

During one of our visits to Dehradun, someone recommended us this place. We visited 'Visharanti' and were spellbound with the grandeur and serenity the resort bestows. It was early March and we could still feel the mild chill in the air, probably due to the forests all around. The drive to 'Visharanti' from Dehradun via the lush green Sal forests is also soul nourishing.

All around on the walls and alleys you can see photographs, boards etc. depicting the bravery and valor of the army men.

Be it the board dedicated to Kargil war & it's heroes or the board dedicated to special forces (the para commandos) or the photographs of army personals, all of them give a tribute to the brave army men.
Some boards also share trivia like the one giving information about a mule who was awarded the 'Vir Chakra' .

One can enjoy good food and drinks, appreciating the great men and their sacrifices.
We relished the taste of veg cutlets, cheese stuffed mushrooms as starters and red sauce pasta, chow mein as main course. The dishes are freshly cooked on order and hence have a wait time. One could roam around and enjoy as the chef prepares your meal. We found the meal prices as well to be quite reasonable.

Holdy's Pub:-

Holdy's Pub is dedicated to  the mountaineer and educationist Mr. R L Holdsworth.
He is known to be one of the discoverer's of " Valley of Flowers". Among other positions that he held, he held the position of Dy. Head Master at the Doon School.

The Pub has an old world charm and instantly transports you to the bygone era. Among other photographs the pub has photographs associated with Doon School.

The pub has a fireplace as well, which points as another reminiscence of the colonial era. There is an open sitting area outside the pub as well where you can enjoy the breeze with your drinks and snacks.

Other Attractions
:-

Some of the other attractions include Spa, Swimming Pool, Children's park & play area, Gymnasium, Mini Golf Course etc. Quite understandably during our visit the Swimming Pool was not operational due to ongoing Covid Crisis. Also as the place is surrounded by forests monkeys were seen near the Children's park & play area, hence one needs to be cautious when visiting with kids.
