Image
The 1200+ Km Bike Trip --- Day6- Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib Hemkund Sahib : Ghangharia  to Hemkund Sahib : After relaxing on Day5, we were determined to start our trek towards Hemkund Sahib ASAP. We woke up early, got freshened up, had some Tea at the Langar Hall, deposited our luggage at the Cloak room (at the Gurudwara Sri Gobind Dham ) and then started the trek towards Hemkund Sahib at around 4:30 am in the morning. The trek from Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib is a moderate to difficult trek, which would take anywhere between 4-6 hours depending on your speed. Carry minimal luggage/load while trekking as with heavy load you would tire yourself  early. We deposited  our excess luggage at  Gurudwara Sri Gobind Dham at Ghangahria & trekked with minimal luggage. Trek on your own speed and keep yourself  hydrated to avoid cramps & muscle pins. If you wish you can take breaks during the trek. If you wish you can stop by at the roadside vendors who sell...

The 1200+ Km Bike Trip --- Day5- Rest at Ghangharia Rest at Ghangharia : On Day 4 we had slept early firstly to take rest after trekking around 30 km in a day and secondly we had a plan to get early and start our trek to Hemkund Sahib . We had thought that we would start our trek latest by 4:30-5 am in the morning. The trek to Hemkund Sahib  from Ghangharia is a 6 km moderate to difficult trek. It takes anywhere between 4 to 6 hours to complete the trek. It was round 3 am when it started raining heavily. The downpour was so heavy that we heard pilgrims were advised not to move towards Hemkund Sahib until it stops raining. We were still optimistic so we started to get ready for the trek, hoping that the downpour will stop soon. At around 5 am the rains slowed down a bit. We thought we could start our journey towards Hemkund Sahib . As soon as we started moving we realized that due to the rain the stony path has become extremely slippery. Other than that we also realized that...

Fun On Wheels -- Bike Trip -- Delhi/Gurgaon-Badrinath-Valley of Flowers-Hemkund Sahib Hello World!!! We all seem to be getting engulfed into our monotonous daily work routines. We seldom get a chance to fulfill our long cherished desires. This is a travelogue that collates, cherishes and shares the series of events that unfolded when we embarked upon our maiden 1200+ km voyage on wheels. It was start of August 2019; the rains had already blossomed onto its fury of downpour. We realized that mid of the month we have two holidays mid-week. What it meant was if we somehow snuggle in 3 days leave, clubbing it with weekends we get 9 days off. This was the best opportunity to plan a vacation. It was our long cherished desire to go on a long trip on our Bikes (Motor Cycles). It was the best opportunity to fulfill this   wish. My travel readings suggested that Mid August (the rainy season) was the best time to go for a trip to Valley of Flowers as in monsoons the flowers bl...
