It was cloudy but it was not raining. When we started to ride towards Rishikesh there was a cool breeze flowing. It was fun to drive in the cool breeze. In some time we were driving on the mountains with the Holy Ganges flowing alongside in the gorge. Driving cautiously and enjoying the ride we reached Rishikesh. As soon as you enter the city you would witness the hustle-bustle. The town is always flooded with Tourists and Devotees. Rishikesh : By the time we reached Rishikesh it was Breakfast Time. As we started our return journey towards Joshimath we had the beautiful memories of our trip and the happiness that we had visited all the places (perhaps more than that) that we initially we thought to visit. We take back some good experiences and some life skills that we learned during the course of our trip. The Day we started our journey back to Dev Prayag, was not a rainy day it was sunny neither, it was a cloudy day perfect for riding the bikes. We quickly rode back to reach the Vishnu Prayag Bridge. The way after that was uphill until you reach Joshimath. You can get your fuel tanks filled at Joshimath or get some fuel at various Petrol Pumps o...

The 1200+ Km Bike Trip --- Day6- Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib Hemkund Sahib : Ghangharia  to Hemkund Sahib : After relaxing on Day5, we were determined to start our trek towards Hemkund Sahib ASAP. We woke up early, got freshened up, had some Tea at the Langar Hall, deposited our luggage at the Cloak room (at the Gurudwara Sri Gobind Dham ) and then started the trek towards Hemkund Sahib at around 4:30 am in the morning. The trek from Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib is a moderate to difficult trek, which would take anywhere between 4-6 hours depending on your speed. Carry minimal luggage/load while trekking as with heavy load you would tire yourself  early. We deposited  our excess luggage at  Gurudwara Sri Gobind Dham at Ghangahria & trekked with minimal luggage. Trek on your own speed and keep yourself  hydrated to avoid cramps & muscle pins. If you wish you can take breaks during the trek. If you wish you can stop by at the roadside vendors who sell...

It takes anywhere between 4 to 6 hours to complete the trek. It was round 3 am when it started raining heavily. The downpour was so heavy that we heard pilgrims were advised not to move towards Hemkund Sahib until it stops raining. We were still optimistic so we started to get ready for the trek, hoping that the downpour will stop soon. At around 5 am the rains slowed down a bit. We thought we could start our journey towards Hemkund Sahib . As soon as we started moving we realized that due to the rain the stony path has become extremely slippery. Other than that we also realized that...

The 1200+ Km Bike Trip --- Day2- Rishikesh to Pakhi-Joshimath The day of Landslides : Landslide 1:  We had our breakfast early and started our journey to Joshimath by 7:45-8am. We left Bamboo hut to move towards Dev Prayag. As we moved few kilometers the noise in the bike chain became loud. I had been neglecting it for some time now, in-fact the noise had started at the Upper Canal Road but it was not bad as it was now. Anyways ignoring it we continued the journey. The front brakes had also gone worse, the brakes issue was known but the noise in the chains had aggravated. We had just ridden few kilometers; we had to stop as the road was blocked due to a small landslide. A JCB was clearing the landslide rubble. We had to halt for around 20 minutes before the rubble was cleared. While waiting for the landslide to be cleared we just adjusted and tightened the bike chain so that the noise reduced. We started riding again when the rubble was cleared. Landslide2 :  We had jus...
