Sweet Water Lake Arambol

Image
Sweet Water Lake Arambol 27th February  2022 - 1st March 2022,  We were on our trip to Goa; we had chosen Candolim, North Goa as our place of stay between 27th February 2022 and 1st March 2022. This was the time we explored the  Sweet Water Lake Arambol also referred to as  Arambol  Sweet Water Lake. While planning for the trip to North Goa, we had put  Sweet Water Lake Arambol  as a must visit destination. This was due to the fact that  Sweet Water Lake Arambol  was suggested to be as a serene destination which had a conglomeration of a Sweet Water Lake, lush green Hills and Beach in close vicinity.  The official name of the lake is " Vagkolam ", but the locals prefer calling it by its nick name, Sweet Water Lake. We were told that the water of the Lake originates in natural hot springs from within the Goan jungles. Hills and the Coconut groves surround the Lagoon.  Sweet Water Lake Arambol The beach in the vicinity is known...

Dehra then and now

Dehra then and now : My recent visits to Dehradun have prompted me to pen down this blog. I see stark differences in Dehradun now, from the days of my childhood. Somehow I was trying to find the Dehradun of my childhood in today's Dehradun and I must say I failed miserably. It puts me into deep pain when I see that the Dehradun of my childhood is lost somewhere in rapid urbanization. I am not sure if this is true with other cities and towns as I don't have a point of reference in the past to compare them with today's situation. But for Dehradun I am sure things have changed beyond the point they could be compared with their counterparts in the past. Someone who is born in recent times cannot even imagine how pristine Dehradun was. I just want to add my perspective and view point so that anyone of generation Z reading this blog would know how Dehra was before the time they were born. Dehra has transformed into a concrete jungle. I see multistoried apartments and high rise ...

Rains in Doon

Rains in Doon : My remembrances of the rains in Doon dates back to the year 1989 when we relocated to Dehradun from Mysore. As I remember there were local rains, the monsoons and the rains in the winter. I have heard people say that in the good old day's houses in Doon did not have hooks for fans as it never used to be so hot that one would need a fan. If at all the temperature would rise there would be locals rains that would bring the temperature down. Even in 1989 as soon as the temperature rose for few days' people would start expecting a shower and the weather at Dehradun never disappointed its residents. As kids we used to love the rains in the summers as it brought the temperature down thus making the weather pleasant and thereby facilitating long hours of play which probably might not have been possible in scorching heat. I remember until Holi (March) the weather would be bit chilly which would mellow down towards late March, followed by summers in the Months of April...

Reis Magos Fort Goa

Image
Reis Magos Fort Goa 27th February  2022 - 1st March 2022,  We were on our trip to Goa, we had chosen Candolim, North Goa as our place of stay between 27th February 2022 and 1st March 2022. This was the time we explored  Reis Magos Fort Goa . While planning for the trip to North Goa, we had put Reis Magos Fort as a must visit destination. This was due to the fact that Reis Magos Fort is one of the oldest forts in Goa and is beautifully restored. Reis Magos is a village in Bardez Taluka. It is situated on the northern bank of Mandovi River, just opposite to the Capital City of Panaji. The village is famous for two of the iconic structures of Goa the Reis Magos Fort and the Reis Magos Church - first Church in Bardez. Reis Magos is the Portuguese name for the "Three Wise Men" from the Bible. Just on the narrowest point of the Mandovi River, the Fort stands tall with its high and formidable walls, made of readily available and extremely durable laterite stone. At...

Art Resort Goa - Art Lovers' Paradise 1st March  2022 - 6th March 2022,  We were on our trip to Goa, we had chosen Palolem, South Goa as our place of stay between 1st March 2022 and 6th March 2022. This is the time we explored Art Resort Goa . To be honest it became our best hangout place. We had read about it as a must visit place when in Palolem and Art Resort Goa did not disappoint us. We were a regular visitor to the place. We spent our evenings over finger licking fresh food and Live Performances. During day we spent time taking art lessons from the art teachers and mentors at the place. We also took a Massage at the Ayurvedic Massage Parlor in the complex. We also attended a fair that was organized in the premise which had various food items, musical instruments, art work etc for sale. In all we just thoroughly enjoyed the place and in a way kind of saved our holiday with some refreshing activities at the place. We did not get a chance to live at the resort but I...

Tanshikar Spice Farm 27th February 2022 - 6th March 2022,  4th March 2022 Goa is not all about beaches. Goa is very rich in flora and fauna. Goa has quite a few Wildlife Sanctuaries as well. Just near to the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, among the Western Ghats rainforests there is a Spice Farm well preserved and in the lap of mother nature known as Tanshikar Spice Farm . This Spice farm sometimes is also colloquially called as Netravali Spice Farm due to it's proximity to Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. To be precise this spice farm is in Netravali village in the Sanguem Taluka of Goa. This Spice Farm is near to South Goa and hence it also sometimes referred to as South Goa Spice Plantation . Tanshikar's working Organic Spice Farm is spread across 40 acres of land out of which on 25 acres a variety of spices are grown.
