Route

You can start early morning from Govindghat towards Pulna. You need to get yourself registered at Govindghat before you proceed towards Pulna. If you intend to take your own vehicle till Pulna you can get yourself registered at the bridge gate at Govindghat. The gate opens early morning and is closed at 2 pm. One cannot go beyond the gate (towards Pulna) after 2 pm. Govindghat to Ghangharia is a 14 km trek that can be covered by foot or on Ponies. You can take a Helicopter ride till Gangahria if you wish to do so.
If you intend to hike (go on foot) carry only the bare essentials with you, as during the hike you would feel a lot of burden/weight on your shoulders if you carry heavy loads. You will get tired very soon if you carry heavy load. You can deposit the extra load in lockers available at Govindghat. We deposited our extra baggage at the lockers available at “Gurudwara Sri Govindghat”. This service is again free of cost.

We decided to take our bikes till Pulna and then hike from there on. You can park your bikes at bike stands at Pulna. You can bargain upon the daily rates for keeping the bikes at the bike stands this could range from Rs. 25 to Rs. 100 per day depending on your bargaining power and the rush at that point of time. We just locked our bikes and parked them.

The trek offers soul-nourishing views of unparalleled beauty of lush green mountains, gushing river and the sparkling waterfalls.
As you start your hike, the first few km are a bit steep and then it gradually smoothens down, until you reach the bridge on the river Lakshman Ganga in the Bhyundar Valley. Until you reach the bridge you would find makeshift shops on the way. You can have Tea, Biscuits, Maggi etc in these shops. You would also find shelters on the way where you can take refuse from the rain during the rainy season. We also took refuse from the rain in one of these shelters on our way back. On the way you would keep getting milestone suggesting the way that is left till destination.

Once you cross the Lakshaman Ganga Bridge the path becomes steeper. Be extra conscious during rainy season when you hike up this gradient, as it becomes slippery and you may slip or sprain your foot. As the gradient of the way is higher you will feel tiredness early as compared to the tiredness you feel on the trek before the Lakshaman Ganga Bridge.
Keep moving at your pace, with occasional stops for food, water, drinks etc. Do not over burden or over stretch yourself and avoid any injury.
The complete trek from Pulna to Ghangharia would take anywhere around 3 to 6 hours depending on your speed.

You can stay overnight in Hotels and rooms available on rent. You can also stay and dine at the Gurudwara at Ghangharia.

* Limited phone network at Govindghat. No Phone Network at Ghangharia. One can get landline connectivity (if not hampered by weather) at Govindghat and Ghangharia.
** Food options at Govindghat and Ghangharia are limited, but you would easily get North Indian Food.
**^ Carry Vaseline and Sunscreens to save yourself from Sunburns and charred lips & cheeks. Also when you are travelling by road during rainy season in India carry heavy duty rain coat, rain paints, wind cheaters, rain resistant boots etc as there is heavy rain pour and only heavy duty rain cover will last. Carry clothes that dry soon so even if they get wet they dry quickly.
***Life Savers: In case you don’t get booking anywhere or for last minute plans one can stay and dine at Gurudwara at Ghangaharia (“Gurudwara Sri Govind Dham”).The Food (Prasad) and Lodging is free of cost.
