Kamakhya Devi Temple - Pithoragarh

Kamakhya Devi Temple - Pithoragarh:

Kamakhya Devi Temple is a Temple dedicated to Devi Kamakhya "The Goddess of Desire", who fulfills all your desires and saves you from all sorts of ailments & troubles. Situated on a hill the Temple is around 7 km from Pithoragarh. It is the only temple in Uttarakhand dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya.

Locals told us that the Temple was built by Madan Sharma ji on 22nd March 1972. As the locals say: Madan Sharma, an army personnel, was posted in Assam used to visit Kamakhya Devi Temple in Guwahati for worshipping the Goddess. Later he was transferred to Pithoragarh. It is said that at this point of time the Goddess herself showed her willingness to accompany him to Pithoragarh. Obeying to the willingness of the Goddess, Madan ji established the Temple on the hill. A small Temple then has now transformed into a big Temple Complex. Apart from the central complex dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya the temple complex houses small Temples of Hanuman ji, Bhairon ji, Lakshmi Narayan ji and Santoshi Mata ji. We were told that till date the Temple and the Temple complex is maintained and renovated by the family of Madan Sharma ji. New structures are also added to the Temple Complex by the family.

The Temple is on a hill. There is a motorable road till the Temple Complex. People also trek to the Temple. The uphill road to the Temple is quite steep, in-fact the steepest road that I have ever driven a car on.

As you reach the Temple Complex you see a panoramic view of Pithoragarh. On one side of the Temple you see large farmlands having terrace cultivation. The panoramic view of the farms surrounded by the mountains present a scenery with unparalleled beauty. In front of the Temple you can see the Naini Saini Airport. On the other side you can see Pithoragarh city. The scenery is just majestic.

As you start climbing the stairs of the Central Temple Complex, you come across two Temples one each on the left and the right side. These two Temples are of Hanuman ji and Bhairon ji.
As climb further up the stairs, you reach the Central Complex. this is the Complex where the deity Kamakhya Devi is seated.

One experiences inner peace at this place. One becomes so relaxed, completely devoted to the Goddess. People submerge themselves in the devotion of Devi Kamakhya. It is believed that peoples wishes are fulfilled by Goddess Kamakhya
