Camping at Three Cliffs Bay - Part2

Camping at Three Cliffs Bay - Part2:-

6 and 7th September 2014,

Until now you read how we started our Camping Trip and Reached Swansea. If not, read here.

Once we collected all the items needed for camping at the market near the Swansea Railway Station, we were all set to move towards the Swansea Bus station. We had to board a bus that would take us to our Camping ground. It would take us 40 minutes more to reach the Camping ground.

We started moving towards Swansea Bus Station. Vishi had the latest smartphone with 4G network. He started looking at the road maps and started guiding us. We followed the maps and Vishi's instructions for some time, but looking at the buildings and houses around us it was becoming evident that we were on the wrong path. It felt like that we were heading away from the Bus Station.

I suggested that we should enquire from the passing by pedestrians. They being locals would know the way to the Bus Stand. Gilu took the lead and started enquiring about the Bus Station from the people who passed by. The localities were very gentle, and helped us. Following Gilus instructions we finally reached the Bus station after wandering for a long time. We realized that sometimes the human touch and human interactions are much more helpful than technology.

We enquired about our Bus at the enquiry. We were told that the Bus would arrive in an hour and we could purchase the Tickets in the Bus itself.

It was already noon, so we thought we should finish our lunch before we board the Bus. This would save time when we reach the Camping site. We put our entire luggage near the gate from where we had to board the Bus. Gilu and Vishi's friend sat at strategic places so that they could guard our luggage and also board the Bus before other passengers could board it. Basically we did not want to travel standing in case of heavy rush. Perhaps a survival tactic we had acquired in India for boarding Busses even in rush hours.

After securing our luggage and negating any chance of missing the Bus, I and Vishi left the place to grab something to eat for lunch. We went to the nearest "Burger King" shop which was just adjacent to the Bus Station and was visible from its exit gate. As we approached the shop we could see all the shops from where we had purchased our Camping stuff. We just realized that the Bus Station was adjacent to the shops from where we had done our purchasing. We had unnecessarily done a detour and spent so much time wandering here and there finding the Bus Station. Anyhow I and Vishi returned with packed lunch, which we enjoyed as we were hungry.

It was almost time for the Bus to arrive. In sometime the Bus arrived & we all queued to board the bus and as planned we were in the front of the queue so as to board the Bus first and secure a seat to sit. As we boarded the Bus we purchased the Tickets and requested the Bus Driver to let us know when the Bus stops at the Camping ground Bus stop. It was time to say Good Bye to Swansea City and move towards the outskirts.

The Bus started filling up with Campers like us. The Bus left at time. As the Bus drove towards the Camping ground, we enjoyed the scenery and spent time chit-chatting, thankfully unlike our Railway Coach, the Bus was not a Silent zone.
After around 40 minutes the driver indicated that we were about to reach the Bus stop for the Three Cliffs Camping ground. In some time the Bus stopped at the Bus stop. We thanked the Bus Driver and de-boarded  the Bus along with a lot of other Campers.

We started following other Campers in anticipation that they knew the way and would lead us to the Camping ground. The way we took was initially mild uphill and then steep downhill.
Following the Campers, in sometime we reached at the place from where we could see "The Three Cliffs" and the coast line for the first time.

The path ahead of us was via the woods. We could easily apprehend that the descent would take us to the Seashore. We could perhaps imagine that the Camping ground would not be near the Seashore or in the woods for that matter. Also, we could not see any Camping ground near the Seashore. What it meant was that we were again on the wrong track. Blindly following the Campers had perhaps brought us on the wrong way. It was our conjecture that the Campers were doing some sort of Camping in the Wild.

We again resorted to the tried and tested approach of enquiring with the locals. Again Gilu took the lead and interacted with the locals. We were apprised that we had left the Camping ground around a mile uphill. We had to trek back with our entire luggage a mile uphill to finally reach the Camping ground. To our surprise the Camping ground was just a few hundred meters away from the Bus stop. We had again foolishly wandered all around.

We reached the reception and completed the formalities. We were escorted by the officials to show us the Camping grounds. It was a week end and almost the end of British Summers; hence the Camping site was full of Camps. We were shown two sites. First one was on a slope and it was a bit windy there. The only good point about this site was that the Three Cliffs & the Coastline was visible and gave a spectacular panoramic view. The second site was less windy. It also did not have the view of the Coastline & the Three Cliffs. We could not decide which one to pick so we thought we would flip a coin and decide which site to occupy. The coin decided that we would occupy the second site...
