Camping at Three Cliffs Bay - Part4

Camping at Three Cliffs Bay - Part4:

6 and 7th September 2014,

Until now you read how we started our Camping Trip and Reached Swansea (read here), then how after a long detour, we finally reached our Camping Ground at Three Cliffs Bay (read here) and then later how we reached the beach, trekked up the mountain to reach the top of Three Cliffs and returned back to the Camping ground by late evening (read here).

By the time we reached the Camping Ground it was already dark. It was time to ignite the Barbeque. I brought the Barbeque Bricks on which we placed the Barbeque. Everyone was around the Barbeque, trying their own ingenious ways of igniting fire. I and Gilu brought in some dry grass so that it could catch fire easily. Finally with all the efforts put in by all of us the Charcoal in the Barbeque started burning. Gilu put the utensil we had brought to cook food on the Barbeque. This pan was filled up to the brim with water. The intention was to boil water that could later be used to cook noodles, tea etc. The pan was covered by a lid to facilitate quick boiling.

We all sat around the Barbeque chit-chatting and seeing the water boil. After some regular chit-chat Vishi's friend started a very interesting topic of all times "Ghosts & Haunting stories". He was from Hyderabad, India and had a lot of Ghost stories which he had heard from his friends and family. This was a hot topic for conversation. Everybody contributed their bit and shared the Haunting stories that everyone had heard. By the time the water boiled we had heard plethora of "Ghost & Haunting Stories".

It was already quite dark by now and it was getting difficult to work in darkness. Vishi came to our rescue. He had gathered one more gadget for such times - a head night lamp. It was a night lamp that was wore on one's forehead. I also had a torch app in my phone which I used now to illuminate the phone's flash light. Both the torch and the night lamp gave ample illumination for us to carry out our task. Finally for dinner we cooked some instant noodles, tea and "Maggi". We had our dinner quickly as by now we were quite hungry. We were happy, as we had cooked our food in a primitive way over the fire and enjoyed our dinner. It was a new experience for us.

After dinner we went for a walk. After walking for around 300 meters we could see the 3 Cliffs and the sea all bathed in moonlight. It was a panoramic view that we captured in our memories so that we could remember and cherish it all our lifetime. The beauty of the place and the experience we had can certainly be never described in words.

We returned back to our tents to have a nice sleep. An eventful and fulfilled day had come to an end. It was probably one of the most fascinating days in our life. Vishi and his friend went to sleep in their tent. I and Gilu, just cherishing the memories of the day finally fell asleep in our tent.

It was around 6am and I could hear some movement around our tents. Probably people were going for their morning walk. I lazily again dozed off for another hour and a half. It was around 7:30 am now. The sounds around the tents were becoming unavoidable now. It was becoming difficult to sleep in such noise, so finally we decided to wake up. The Sun had risen and was burning red by now.

We all finally woke up and headed towards the washrooms to brush and freshen up. By the time we returned from the washrooms it was already 8 am.

Now was the time to have breakfast. I and Vishi went across to the reception to purchase some eatable for breakfast. We bought Jam, some Cornflakes & Milk and a loaf of bread. The loaf of Bread was the last piece. We were lucky to grab the last portion.

When we returned Gilu and Vishi's friend were busy, trying to ignite the Barbeque for cooking some Tea etc. We tried very hard, but somehow all our efforts went in vain because the Barbeque did not ignite. All of us exhausted all our indigenous ways of igniting the fire, but the Barbeque did not even show up any sign of being ignited.

I and Vishi again went back to the reception to get something that could help in igniting the Barbeque. We found some solid blocks that had some igniting material absorbed with-in itself. These were called "Igniting Blocks". We bought them.

I and Vishi returned with these blocks. We ignited the Barbeque with the blocks in it. This was instant success. The barbeque ignited instantly with the Igniting Blocks in it. The blocks had done the Magic for us. We boiled some milk for Tea and had some Cornflakes with milk. We enjoyed Bread, Jam with Tea and "Parle G" biscuits.

After breakfast it was time for a walk around the place. We started walking along the muddy-pebbly path that ran along our Camping ground. Walking for some time we could see farms where sheep herds were reared. Just around 30 meters ahead there was a farm where the cows were reared. The cows were quite inquisitive and it seemed that every cow wanted to have our glimpse. It was a perfect farmland. We were spellbound by the serenity.

It was the perfect start of the day that we had always dreamt of ever since childhood - "A day starting in lush green farmlands surrounded by meadows". We spent some time there capturing the moment in our snaps.

After the brief photo-session, we headed towards the meadows and the forests. As moved further the forests started to become denser. We could constantly hear some buzzing sound. As we went deep into the forest we realized that a motorway was nearby and the constant buzzing sound was due to the traffic on the motorway. After heading around 600 meters in the forests we decide to return back as we had plans to visit the sea shore again and have some fun there before returning. Little did we know that we could get to the sea via the small tunnel under the Three Cliffs...
